Pause and identify which system says pending
A status may be shown by the payment provider, a bank, a card issuer, a browser checkout or the merchant account. These systems do not always update at the same time. Note the exact status wording and where it appears, then check the corresponding official transaction history.
Do not repeat the instruction just because a page is slow or a confirmation page failed to load. First check whether the provider has recorded a transaction and whether the merchant has created or credited an account record. A second attempt can create a duplicate if the first one later completes.
Read the two histories together
| What you see | How to read it | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| No debit and no cashier order | No transaction visible on either side | Refresh both records before considering another attempt |
| Debit visible; cashier pending | The wallet and merchant records differ | Trace the existing order before retrying |
| Wallet reversal visible | A return entry is recorded | Match the reversal to the original amount and reference |
Gather the minimum useful details
Keep these details private. Send them only through an official secure support route. Never disclose your wallet PIN, bank password or OTP, even if a caller says it is required to reverse a pending payment.
| Record | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Reference or transaction ID | Lets the provider locate the payment |
| Date and approximate time | Narrows the transaction search |
| Amount and currency | Distinguishes similar payments |
| Merchant or recipient description | Checks where the instruction was routed |
| Status and exact error text | Shows which system needs investigation |
Escalate to the party that owns the status
If the provider shows pending, ask the provider whether the payment was sent, is still processing or failed. If the provider shows completion but the merchant does not, give the merchant the transaction reference and ask whether it can locate the credit. If the bank or card issuer shows a pending authorisation, ask the issuer about its status and release process.
There is no universal processing time for every method and platform. Follow the current terms and timing shown by the provider and merchant. If the status changes, update your notes and avoid opening multiple duplicate support tickets.
A GHS 50 debit is visible but the cashier still says pending
Write down the exact time, amount, wallet reference and order ID. Check whether the wallet marks the debit complete, pending or reversed. Then ask the merchant to trace the order against that reference and record the ticket number.
